Examples of a Thesis Statement
Professional Examples of a Thesis Statement
To create a good thesis statement, it requires some criteria. With some given examples those criteria are tried to describe: There should be such a thesis statement that takes on such a subject upon which reasonable people could disagree. That is there must be some controversy with some arguments both in favour and against the statement. “The massive growth of science and technology has changed the world to a great extent. Every time new technology is emerging and they are having their influence in social political, cultural, economic and domestic life.”
This type of thesis statement does not contain much controversial issues to continue a thesis. The above statement is simple comment rather than being a thesis statement. The growth of technology and science has influenced the social life with a negative aspect; it has widely helped extinguishing the minor characteristics of a special society. This statement contains much scope of ambiguity with arguments both in favor and against the comment. And there is a large scope to study to establish the statement. If we consider “The lifestyle that the teenagers had in middle age was different largely from the lifestyle of most modern teenagers of America”, there raises no question how that was or why that was. This type of silly comments can not be a statement of a thesis. Here is the first paragraph of Arthur Schlesinger, Jr.'s essay “The Crisis of American Masculinity” “What has happened to the American male? For a long time, he seemed utterly confident in his manhood, sure of his masculine role in society, easy and definite in his sense of sexual identity. The frontiersmen of James Fenimore Cooper, for example, never had any concern about masculinity; they were men, and it did not occur to them to think twice about it. Even well into the twentieth century, the heroes of Dreiser, of Fitzgerald, of Hemingway remain men. But one begins to detect a new theme emerging in some of these authors, especially in Hemingway: the theme of the male hero increasingly preoccupied with proving his virility to himself. And by mid-century, the male role had plainly lost its rugged clarity of outline. Today men are more and more conscious of maleness not as a fact but as a problem. The ways by which American men affirm their masculinity are uncertain and obscure. There are multiplying signs, indeed, that something has gone badly wrong with the American male's conception of himself.”
So, it is clear that preparing or making examples of theses is a hard job. Hence, the brainstormings are the essential for the exploration of ideas, methods and problems in making the examples of thesis statement and draw some outstanding result by making hypothesis. This would widely help in designing some hypotheses for rendering the thesis into a better one. Hypotheses is considered as a crucially important part of a proposal and it should be a non quantities but again specific and clear. There should be clear links to the objectives, and clear indications of how statistical methods would be used to evaluate the hypotheses. In addition, all important data and bibliography should be properly cited. For the conveniences and proper understanding notes should be inserted in a formulated way which can help in analyzing the problem and reaching some conclusions and recommendations that are derived as finding of the attempted research.
